“Star Wars” director Rian Johnson has been busy at the studio.
The studio has not yet given a new “Star War” film a green light, but the “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” has already been delayed to 2020.
The director is still at the helm of the third “Star Trek” film.
And it’s still unclear if “The Force Awakens” will be released in 2018 or 2019.
Johnson has not been shy about his love of the Star Wars franchise, and he has been pushing for the release of “StarWars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.”
Johnson said he wants to make a “Star wars” movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “The last one was so great.
I just wanted to do something new.”
So, Johnson has taken a different approach to the saga.
He has been careful not to put the franchise too far into the future.
Johnson has not made any promises, and we won’t be seeing the last of the “Star-Lord” in “Star Warriors” anytime soon.
But we do know that the “Force Awakens” movie will be the final “Star” film to take place in the “New” timeline, and it will likely be set on an alternate timeline from the original “Star.”
That’s not good news for the fans.
It’s likely that “Rogue” will not have the same sense of urgency that “The Last Jedi” did.
We will only see “StarWar” sequels “Rogue Squadron” and “Rogue Planet” as we go.
